The last few weeks...
Hi to all following our progress on the blog - sorry there has been no news lately, but we have been busy entertaining the parentals and with the swap over last week (Thursday) of Rita and Peter out and Penny and Mark in, we have been a little busy! Lee is still working hard as always, keeping busy in the parish with sermon writing and worship preparation taking up a good part of his time. He is still enjoying his role here and is slowly adjusting to life with a newborn and working full time - its tiring for us all. I am getting there slowly, and am tired too a lot of the time, but we imagine it will be that way for a while. Imogen is breastfeeding well on my right side and I am still expressing my left breast so it has time to heal, so she has been having a bottle every second feed. This has been going really well, and Lee has been so wonderful, getting up to feed her in the middle of the night so i can keep sleeping and then get up between 5.30am and 6.30am to do her first feed of the day. With Mum and Dad here I have been sleeping in a bit (till about 8ish) going backto bed after the early feed, but of course that will die next week too :( Imogen is a real gem, very passive and happy most of the time (already giving us real smiles!)unless she has wind, so its a pretty easy fix mostly, a quick burp and all is well with the world again. Owen is starting to warm to her a lot, liking to touch her and help burp her as well. He has his Emily dolly to feed and burp as well and thinks its hilarious to make burping sounds on her behalf! Thanks Daddy for encouraging this! Owen is using lots more words these days and trying out more sounds. His toilet training seems back on track this week after a bit of a shocker of a weekend. A few days of no accidents in a row again so I am hopeful things will stay on track especially after everyone goes home and its back to just us at home. We went to playgroup today and Owen had a blast showing Granny and Papa everything he can do - see some photos. He has a great time using all the equipment but morning tea really is the highlight that he hangs out for. Today we baked honey biscuits, and Owen really is my son, loving to eat the cookie dough nearly as much as the baked cookies themselves. He made his own GIANT ginger bread man, and then ate him for lunch (see the pictures). Not a real good day on the nutrition front. Oh well - tomorrow is another day! Mum and Dad go home (back to Wellington) on Friday night, and we'll be sad to see them go, just as we were sad to say goodbye to Rita and Peter - we have had such a good time with our family. Looking forward to the next installment in June and then August. I'll be home in October so its not long enough to really get homesick I dont think!
